CT SCAN OF CHEST

CT SCAN OF CHEST

A  CT scan of the chest  (Computed Tomography scan) is an advanced imaging technique that provides detailed cross-sectional images of the chest, including the lungs, heart, blood vessels, airways, and surrounding structures. Unlike a standard X-ray, a CT scan combines multiple X-ray images taken from different angles and processes them using computer algorithms to create comprehensive, high-resolution 3D images. It is commonly used to diagnose and monitor lung conditions (like infections, tumors, or pulmonary embolism), assess injuries, guide biopsies, and evaluate other abnormalities in the chest cavity. The scan is quick, non-invasive, and typically involves lying on a table that slides into the CT machine. In some cases, contrast dye may be administered to enhance visibility of certain structures.
